Sheffield FC 0 Sheffield United 2
- 19/07/2025

Sheffield FC hosted a young Sheffield United side, with The Club falling to a 2-0 defeat, despite putting in a respectable performance at The Home of Football.
Sheffield United started quick out of the traps with Blades winger Jili Buyabu causing trouble down the left flank. However, it was Clubbie Harry Spooner who notched the first effort of the contest, but his strike went wayward.
The game started slowly, with little action to speak of in the opening 10 minutes, however, Sheffield began to show their experience by getting a tighter grip of the game.
Buyabu continued to play far beyond his years, drawing fouls in from Sam Greenhouse. The Blades were, in-turn, handed a number of free kicks in dangerous positions, but they were unable to capitalise.
With 30 minutes on the clock, action continued to be far-and-few between, but on the 35th minute, Sheffield United had the ball in the back of the net through Jevan Beattie, but an offside was spotted in the build-up.
Ten minutes later, however, their breakthrough would count. A finely-hit set-piece from Sam Aston found Evan Easton free in the box, and the Blades No.6 placed a header off the inside of the post and into the net, giving Sheffield United the lead.
The Club started the second half with intent as Alex Hardwick came close with a header, but it was just wide of the mark.
Sheffield would live to rue that missed opportunity as, back down the other end, the Blades broke through Marshall Francis, who rocketed a near-post effort past Pollard.
The game started to fizzle for The Club, but they came close to halving the deficit with 10 minutes left to play after Joe West struck an audacious effort from a free-kick, only for it to ricochet off the bar and away.
Whilst Sheffield showed signs of quality late on, the young Blades outfit did well to see off the game in the dying minutes, albeit, the game did see several fiery moments between the two teams.
Despite defeat, The Club showed vast quality on the evening, building on yet another positive performance ahead of the 2025/26 season.
