Sheffield FC Foundation

The Sheffield FC Foundation offers a number of Football, Education and Community Programmes and initiatives. The Foundation consists of a number of partnerships with established education providers to offer students the opportunity to study programmes whilst training and playing football under the brand of Sheffield FC. Our programmes have a key focus on education whilst giving students a football development platform. All our education is delivered by the associated education provider.

The Foundation also offer overseas football teams, clubs, colleges and schools the opportunity to come to England for a football and cultural trip. We can tailor our programme to meet the needs of our guest. These programmes offer a football development training programme and match/game experience against UK football clubs. We also give our guests a real cultural experience and a chance to experience the UK.

Post 16 Scholarship Programmes

Sheffield FC hold men’s and women’s football scholarships at several Sixth Forms and Colleges within South Yorkshire. Our Scholarships offer a unique opportunity for talented 16 – 18 year old footballers to further develop their football education in addition to their academic studies. All students must select to study A Levels or a BTec Level 3 Qualification. You will be trained by a UEFA A/B Licensed coach, train four times a week, gain your FA Level One Qualification and maybe even get to use your skills overseas on one of our elective international trips. For more information about our Scholarship opportunities for the upcoming academic year, see the below information:

Maltby Academy

The Football Scholarship Programme offered at Maltby Academy in conjunction with the world’s first football club, Sheffield FC, is a unique opportunity for talented 16 – 18 year old footballers, to secure a realistic pathway into semi-professional/professional football, whilst studying at a highly successful Post 16 centre. The Sheffield Football Club scholarship is an elite football development programme and ensures that  all students access a first class football experience,  in addition to their Post 16 education.

Sheffield FC and Maltby Academy linked up in 2013, developing what is thought to be a first for a club at that level in the football pyramid and is considered somewhat unique in the South Yorkshire region. Maltby Academy is a successful Post 16 school that sets standards high across both academic and practical disciplines.

All players on the scholarship programme will undertake A Levels or BTEC level 3 in sport during the course, with possible opportunities to acquire work based qualifications such as the FA level 1 coaching badge in football. The students will access a high quality football provision working with coaches who have previously and currently coached/played within the professional game. The programme involves training on a daily basis with the scholarship management team. This provides the players with a fantastic opportunity to further develop their football education, development and knowledge of the game.
