Without Sheffield FC

No flicker, no flame,
no Pele or Messi or the Camp Nou,
no beautiful game,
no Catalan flags, twirling in rain,
without Sheffield , true,
no flicker, no flame.
No Cruyff turning, defenders’ lame,
falling to ground, lost in a stew,
no beautiful game
before Sheffield came.
No Moore in red or Maradona blue,
no flicker, no flame,
no Gascoigne, no joy, no tears, or pain,
no late, late tackle in Turin, without you.
No beautiful game,
no Wednesday or Saturday fame,
no United, without Sheffield too,
no flicker, no flame,
no beautiful game.
