One day you won’t have tomorrow by Chris Towers

In honour of Sheffield FC ‘Home of football found on a Mural on Snuff Mill Lane, off the Ecclesall Road.

Trudging the Ecclesall charity shops,
pinching pennies to save the ‘morrow,
passing the ‘Ale Club’, smelling hops,

feeling doleful with a stomach hollow.

‘One day you won’t have tomorrow’

words upon a scrambled poster read,
her scarred heart bled with sorrow.
and yet upon a mural she saw ahead,
and smiled sweetly, when she learned,
Sheffield first, then owls and blades,
and from that mural her heart yearned,

to embrace the day when the sun fades.

From a mural high she lost her sorrow,
in Sheffield FC , she found tomorrow.
