OLP RECORD ATTENDANCE FOR RIO SPURR'S STEEL CITY DERBY!
- 17/05/2023
The City of Sheffield came together on Sunday afternoon to support young Rio Spurr as a Wednesday XI faced a United XI at the Olympic Legacy Park Community Stadium.
Rio Spurr is the son of Ex-Wednesday full-back, Tommy Spurr. The four-year-old was diagnosed with a Wilms Tumour – a rare and aggressive form of cancer, but has recently been given the best possible news – his cancer is in remission.
There were some huge names on show representing both United & Wednesday, including the likes of Carlton Palmer, Mark Duffy, Marcus Tudgay, and even Big Ron Atkinson and Neil Warnock were in either dugout!
A record crowd of 1,472 at the newly built OLP, saw United claim a 4-3 win in an entertaining contest
