Match Report: Sheffield FC Women vs Chesterfield Ladies FC
- 28/04/2025

Sheffield FC wrapped up the league season by visiting Chesterfield Ladies FC for the last match in the East Midlands Womens Regional League. The game finished 0-0 as both teams tried hard to find a breakthrough but neither of them managed to get a goal.
By getting this result away from home, it means that Sheffield FC have now finished the league six points ahead of the closest competitor, which was Chesterfield.
The game consisted of both teams getting a few chances and Sheffield FC had their best efforts with Halima Essa and Nicole Cooper who both had shots that went past just wide of the post.
Chesterfield also had some good chances to score, but whenever they got to the area, Leah Kellogg was there to prevent them from breaking the deadlock.
This result means that Sheffield FC have now drawn two matches in a row, but even though a few people may think this is a negative, Graham Abercrombie feels that this is a good momentum to take to the cup final on the 18th May.
“The two 0-0 draws I quite like them because if we had won handsomely, who knows how that might prepare us for the cup final, whereas we know what we can do to make the success in the final more probably.”
Sheffield FC’s next match will be against Rotherham United Women for the League Cup final to finish off the season.
