- 16/12/2024
It was goals galore at the Home of Football Stadium, as bottom of the table Sheffield closed the gap at the bottom to two points, with a 5-1 win over a shell-shocked Heaton Stannington.
Sheffield took the lead on 13 minutes, as a ball over the top found Luke Mangham beating the off-side trap, lofting the ball coolly over the on-rushing Neil De Jesus.
On 37 minutes they doubled the lead, good work on the right from Mangham caught the keeper out of his area, De Jesus saved but Cameron Bedford scored the rebound.
Less than a minute after the restart it was 3-0, Tomasso Zerboni broke down the left cutting the ball into the middle, with Josh Ayres sweeping the ball home.
On 53 minutes Heaton Stannington pulled one back, Robbie Spence taking advantage of hesitant defence from the hosts, placing the ball from the middle of the area.
Club made it 4-1 on the hour after Bedford scored a spectacular overhead goal, and three minutes later it was 5-1, as Ayres took advantage of another De Jesus exodus to slot into the empty net.
