MATCH REPORT: SHEFFIELD FC VS EMLEY AFC
- 18/11/2024
A moment of brilliance saw Emley return to winning ways at the Home of Football, as they ran out 1-0 winners over bottom of the table Sheffield FC.
It was a tight contest between two very evenly matched teams, with Elmey starting strongly, and the visitors went close as Ross Hardaker's corner was met by the head of Charles Barks, only to see the ball blocked on the line.
Club's closest effort came following a Brandon Webster cross, with Connor Cutts' header stopped by keeper Declan Lambton.
Luke Parkin was mightily unlucky not to open the scoring on 30 minutes, as his initial shot hit the post, with his rebounded effort cleared off the line by Brad Beatson.
Edd Hall pulled off a fantastic save midway through the second half, Parkin putting in a perfect free-kick, with Donae Lawrence getting away a powerful header.
The winner came on 78 minutes, Parkin picking the ball up on the left, before curling a beauty into the top corner.
Sheffield FC will take great heart from what was a good performance against a very good team, however they will need to convert this kind of performance into points very soon, if they are hoping to avoid a relegation battle.
