MATCH REPORT: NORTH FERRIBY VS SHEFFIELD FC

  • 22/04/2024

Club ended their 2023/24 season travels on Saturday, losing a very tight game in East Yorkshire, with North Ferriby running out winners by a solitary goal.

With neither side having much to play for other than pride, it was Sheffield FC – managed for the day by Marc Newsham and Stephen Brogan in the absence of Ryan Cresswell who was serving a one-match ban – who looked the most threatening, with Cameron Johnson testing Tom Jackson with a low free-kick.

Chances were at a premium in the first half, with neither side being able to produce any end product, and it was pretty much the same in an end-to-end but fruitless second period.

The game was settled in the 78th minute, substitute Amir Berchil found himself in behind the defence with the ball, cutting inside and threading the ball through a nest of legs and into the far corner to make it 1-0.

Sheffield threw everything forward in the last minutes, in hope of rescuing a hard earned point, however the Villagers were able to hold out to finish their home campaign with a win.
