Sheffield FC will feel hard done by after losing away at Cleethorpes on Saturday, after seeing a game that looked to be in their control overturned, with the hosts running out 2-1 winners.

With Club having several injured players returning, they made a very positive start, however that jinx continued when new signing Jack Hardacre was replaced after 16 minutes after injuring his shoulder in a collision with ex-Clubbie AJ Adelekan.

Hardacre’s replacement – Adam Watson – made an immediate impact, and on 22 minutes gave the visitors the lead, stooping bravely to power home a header from a Stephen Brogan corner.

Sheffield pressed hard to double their lead, and could count themselves unfortunate to have a goal ruled out for offside on 35 minutes, after Brad Beatson rose to nod home a Brogan free-kick.

Clee managed to level in first half injury time, Adelekan leading a break on the left before feeding to Brody Robertson, the winger played an intuitive one-two with Josh Walker before sliding the ball home from close range. In the aftermath of the goal, Sheffield’s Assistant Manager Jamie Yates was shown a red card for a technical area infringement.

The hosts took the lead on 63 minutes, Robertson turning provider by squaring the ball to Walker on the edge of the box, with the striker dropping a shoulder to turn and place the ball into the corner.

Sheffield laid siege to the home goal, with Rory Coleman bombarding the Owls’ defence with an aerial assault from his free-kicks, however the home side were able to scrape safely over the finish line to take three vital points.
