Sheffield steamed to a convincing victory in the North-East on Saturday, as they completed the double over Ashington AFC at Woodhorn Lane, running out 3-1 winners in an excellent display.

Club started on the front foot, with the front three of Connor Cutts, Benni Ndlovu and Cam Johnson all causing problems for the hosts, with debutant AJ Greaves also chipping in to give the home side headaches.

The visitors took the lead on 36 minutes, Greaves slipping a cheeky ball through to Johnson, who in turn shaped to curl a shot from 25 yards around the Karl Dryden into the net.

Club were denied what looked to be a stonewall penalty, AJ Greaves being tripped in the area, however referee Ranson only awarded a corner. From that corner, Stephen Brogan swung the ball in, with Benni Ndlovu sweeping the ball home to make it 2-0.

Without looking at any time in any danger, Sheffield were able to continue pressing forward, and in injury time settled matters with a third from Alfie Smith who bundled the ball home from another Brogan corner.

Ashington grabbed a consolation goal in the 94th minute, Wilson Kneeshaw finding space in the middle to get a shot, beating a previously untroubled Edd Hall to make it 1-3.
