Following this week’s postponement of our home game against Grantham Town, the Northern Premier League have instructed us to play all our home matches in March at alternative venues.

Like most others in the area, the Home of Football pitch has suffered from one of the wettest winters in modern history, and unfortunately, small parts of the pitch have not been able to drain sufficiently.

Whilst our pitch looks relatively perfect from a distance, two small areas – one in front of the away dugout, and one in front of the Sheffield End 18-yard line – have suffered a major drainage collapse which needs immediate attention.

This pause from playing on the Home of Football will affect all teams within the Sheffield FC family, including Women’s, Development and Disability, with no games taking place in March to allow for emergency remedial works.

The Men’s First Team games in March will move to other grounds in the area, with Gainsborough Trinity and Stocksbridge Park Steels showing the real meaning of “football family” by jumping at the opportunity to help The World’s First in this difficult time, and to those others who have offered, we give our grateful appreciation.

Saturday’s game at home to Brighouse Town will now take place at Gainsborough Trinity’s Northolme Stadium, kick off 3pm, with Tuesday’s game against Winterton Rangers and the following Tuesday’s game against Consett taking place at Stocksbridge Park Steels’ Bracken Moor Stadium.

The Women’s scheduled home game at home to Sporting Khalsa on Sunday has been reversed to Sporting’s Noose Lane Stadium, in Willenhall, with the home fixture now moving to 5th May.

We appreciate that this is something that will come as a disappointment to our fans, however we will be offering in way of compensation a £50 reduction on Season Ticket renewals for those unable to make the trip to Gainsborough or Stocksbridge.

The Sheffield Football Club would like to apologise to fans, sponsors and opposition for any inconvenience this may cause during the month of March, and understand the Northern Premier League’s stance in wishing to maintain the integrity of the competition.
