MATCH REPORT: SHEFFIELD FC VS BRIDLINGTON TOWN

  • 01/10/2024

Sheffield FC’s winless start to the season continued at the Home of Football, as Bridlington Town held out for a 2-1 win.

Club had their chances in the opening minutes, as Ted Cribley gave Benni Ndlovu two chances to score, with the on-loan striker sending straight at the keeper and the other over the bar.

The Seasiders took the lead on 8 minutes, as Michael Coulson threaded the ball through to Danny Earl, with the Brid striker tucking home the shot.

Sheffield came back at the visitors, and once again the Cribley-Ndlovu combination set up a great chance, this time the striker skewed his shot wide.

Bridlington could have doubled their lead just before the break, Harvey Cribs hitting the bar, with Earl’s rebound effort sliced over.

Sam Greenhouse made a wonderful stop at the start of the second half, blocking a Sam Kay shot on the line, after Coulson had squared the ball for a seemingly certain goal.

Sheffield should have levelled midway through the half, Connor Cutts sending in a perfect cross, with Luke Aldrich uncharacteristically heading over the bar.

Brid's second goal eventually came on 79 minutes, after the visitors resisted a sustained period of Sheffield pressure, with Earl sprinting away before teeing up Coulson with a tap-in.

The hosts made for an interesting finish after Nathan Dyer tripped Nathan Modest in the box on 86 minutes, Rory Coleman tucked the penalty away, but it was too little too late for the hosts.
