Sheffield FC’s Development squad kicked off their new era with a gut-wrenching loss on Wednesday night, as Swallownest’s youngsters stunned Marc Newsham’s side with two injury time goals, with the visitors winning 4-2 at the Home of Football.

Swall started like a house on fire, and had an early effort by Billy Stafford saved by Niall Edge, whilst Sonny Bennett had to be at his best to cut out a cross from Alex Yeardley-Monach that was begging for a tap in.

The away side grabbed the lead on three minutes, a ball catching the Sheffield defence out at the back post, with Yeardley-Monach volleying in past Edge.

After the shaky start Sheffield started to come into the game, and they went close after Harrison Lightning put a telling ball across the box, with Danny Fisher just unable to connect.

Carter Tingle tested Swall’s keeper Tyler Crossland moments later, a cross from Sonny Bennett picked out the midfielder, with the shot producing a great save.

Just before the break Club equalised, some good build up play saw the ball land at the feet of Harrison Lightning, with the big centre-forward hitting a sweet shot to make it 1-1.

Swallownest retook the lead on 59 minutes, Billy Stafford’s shot was parried out by Niall Edge, however Yeardley-Monach was on hand to tap into the empty net.

Sheffield scrapped for an equaliser, with Lightning going close to getting his second, only to be denied by Crossland.

That equaliser came on 75 minutes, and a messy one it was too, a goalmouth scramble saw the ball land at the feet of Carter Tingle who thumped the ball home from 12 yards out.

Just when it looked as though the draw was the most likely outcome, Swallownest stunned everyone with Leonard Kovak on the end of the ball to slide home, making it 2-3 in the 92nd minute.

Two minutes later, and with Club chasing a last-gasp leveller, Swall hit with a sucker punch from Kamron Jaftha to make the score 4-2.
