MARC NEWSHAM RETIRES FROM FOOTBALL

Club legend Marc Newsham has announced his retirement from football aged 36.

The born goalscorer, scored 81 goals in 184 appearances for The Club and is 10th on our all-time goal scorers list.

Newsham had spells at The World's First Football Club spanning across 16 years. He debuted on loan from Rotherham in December 2008 and scored 5 in 5. He then joined permanently nearly a decade later in the 2018/19 season, hitting the onion bag 22 times as we reached the playoffs.


The Doncaster-born striker, has been top scorer in four seasons (18/19, 19,20, 20/21, 21/22), better than a 1 in 2 record of 66 in 123 over the period.


Newsham walked out with his two kids and captained the team in our last game of the 2023/24 season


He has also picked up Player of the Year twice in 2020 and 2022.
