MATCH REPORT: SHEFFIELD FC VS NORTH SHIELDS - SATURDAY 29TH OCTOBER 2022M [2-0]
- 01/11/2022
Sheffield FC got back to winning ways as they ran out 2-0 winners against North Shields and stay unbeaten at The Tuffnells Home of Football this season.
It was a great start to the first half for Sheffield, on a very wet surface, with Nathan Modest and Basile Zottos causing all the problems for North Shields with their lightning pace down either side.
Sheffield FC opened the scoring with a perfectly floated ball from Rory Coleman, straight to the head of Alex Peterson, who was eagerly waiting at the back post.
Sheffield FC continued to dominate the ball in the middle of the park, which led to a corner. The resulting corner was placed on a plate by Stephen Brogan, to the head of towering centre-back Reece Fielding. 30 minutes played and Sheffield comfortably led by 2 goals to nothing.
Possession evidently in favour of the home side for the remainder of the half with North Sheilds' best chance coming through the middle, only leading to a corner.
The away side started the second half the better. Regan Paterson, having his shot saved by an in-form Jordan Pierrepont.
More pressure from Shields as the half went on, as a corner was cleared off the line by Sheffield’s, Sam Greenhouse after some confusion in the box led to the North Shields chance.
As the half went on Sheffield, slowly got back into the game. Basile Zottos, showed confidence on the ball dragging it past Stephen Forster but unfortunately for him he struck it wide.
North Shields only managed a few saves from Pierrepont but nothing to trouble the Sheffield number 1.
A fantastic home display from The World's First Football Club, who had clear control of the game from start to finish.
