Cleethorpes put up a battling performance to edge Sheffield FC at the Home of Football Stadium, winning a battle of attrition 1-0 to keep up their play off credentials.

Chances were at a premium all the way through the contest, and with both sides holding nothing back, it was the card count that was at the forefront of the game.

On 36 minutes Clee were reduced to ten men, Jack Venny going into a challenge on James Baxendale studs up, with referee Ian Johnston showing the visitors' player a straight red.

In the second half substitute Tiarnan O'Connor went in high on a stooping Tim Lowe, catching the defender in the head, again Mr Johnston had no option but to show a red card.

The contest was settled on 72 minutes, a poor clearance from Jamie Robinson was picked up by Brody Robertson, who rounded a defender before curling into the far corner.
