MATCH REPORT: SHEFFIELD FC VS BRIGHOUSE TOWN

  • 26/04/2025

Sheffield FC suffered a 2-1 defeat at home in the final game of the 2024/25 season.

Sheffield FC got off to the perfect start at The Home of Football Stadium as Stephen Brogan’s divinely hit corner found the head of Luke Aldrich inside the box, whose header was perfectly-placed past Brighouse Town goalkeeper Shea Callister.

The Club didn’t shy away from their bright start, but back at the other end, Brighouse had an opportunity to square up the game through Danny Edwards, who received the ball square inside the box, but his miscalculated effort was swiped over the ball.

With 26 minutes on the clock, Brighouse brought the game level as Rhys Plater’s right-footed effort was struck low and past Mikey Roxburgh in-between the sticks for Sheffield.

Little else came into fruition for either side of the first half as the game went into the interval level.

In the 65th minute, Brighouse Town found themselves in front after a mix-up at the back saw the ball drop to Plater, who had the ball drop to him inside the box, and he placed it past the wayward Roxburgh.

Sheffield weren’t going to bow out too soon as substitutes Nathan Modest and Archie White combined several times, with the latter putting an impact on the game after being introduced, and managed to send in some brilliant crosses. On one notable moment, Modest attempted to get on the end of White’s ball, but it just evaded the Sheffield man.

Unfortunately for The Club, the game petered out and it finished 2-1 to the visitors.
