Sheffield FC were handed a 3-1 defeat against Belper Town in their final away clash of the season, with Keelan Grist getting a goal for The Club.

The match started quietly, with either side struggling to notch a significant opening to potentially take the lead.

However, the 11th minute saw Belper Town get their first concrete opportunity, and converted. Jaanai Gordon managed to weave in-and-out of the Sheffield defence, before finding Kevin Bastos, who slotted a shot to Mikey Roxburgh’s lower-left.

Chances continued to fall for Belper Town, who put the ball square on Ioan Evans’ head inside the box, but his header could only be directed straight into the palm of Roxburgh.

Curtis Burrows then let fly for the hosts from outside the box, but his quickly-taken shot evaded the stand towering over Sheffield shot-stopper Roxburgh’s goal.

Going into the second half, the chances continued to fall for the hosts as Bastos struck a header from up close, testing Roxburgh, who did well to equal it with a fine stop.

Going into the 57th minute, Sheffield were out of luck as the ball took a dodgy bounce inside the box, and slipped out of Roxburgh's hands, with Curtis Burrows bouncing on it and slotting away to make it 2-0.

A chance then fell to Cameron Bedford, who linked up brilliantly with Keelan Grist to fashion a chance for The Club, but the final effort was saved with ease by Kieran Preston.

In the 86th minute, Belper grabbed their third, with Bastos notching his second of the afternoon with a wonderful bit of trickery to set himself up to let fly past Roxburgh.

In the dying minutes of the game, Sheffield were handed the silver lining as they were awarded a penalty after a trip on Luke Aldrich. Up stepped Grist, who confidently fired it in for Sheffield’s only goal of the game and to make it finish 3-1.
