Jamie Yates continued his recruitment drive this week, after signing experienced left-back Joe West from Matlock Town, transferred to The World's First for an undisclosed fee.

"Westie" started his career with the Sheffield Wednesday academy, playing a role in both their Under 18s and Under 21s teams, before gaining non-league experience with Farsley Celtic, Frickley Athletic and Gainsborough Trinity. 

The manager told us "Joe is an excellent addition for the football club. His experience and quality will hopefully bring out the best in others around him."

Also joining Club on an initial month's loan is centre-forward Joshua Ayres, signing from Rotherham United. 

Ayres has spent time with Buxton on loan recently, and will act as cover for the forwards Luke Mangham and Luke Aldrich, who are both out for an extended period.

"Josh is a young striker who is chomping at the bit to play men’s football.," the manager explained, "I’m looking forward to seeing how he does in the upcoming matches."

Both signings are expected to go straight into the squad for Wednesday's long away trip to Heaton Stannington.
