Tuesday evening saw Club finally lose their 100% pre-season record, as they fell 4-2 in torrential conditions to a very competent Tadcaster Albion, managed by former SFC boss Curtis Woodhouse.
After both sides had exchanged early chances it was Taddy that took the lead on 14 minutes, as ex-Clubbie Lebrun Mbeka played the ball through the middle to the lively Donald Chimalilo, who in turn showed a nice touch before burying the ball beyond Dylan Parkin.
On 25 minutes it was 2-0 as Chimalilo turned provider, holding off the midfield to slot the ball through to Jake Day, who did well to loft the ball over Parkin.
Club pulled one back on 37 minutes, Ben Turner’s ball in to the middle dropped to Marc Newsham, who superbly curled the ball beyond Michael Clancy.
It took 18 seconds of second half play for Taddy to make it 3-1, as Chimalilo was involved yet again, squaring for Casey Stewart to tap home past Jonathan Hedge.
The game turned into a fine contest when Adam Chapman fizzed a free-kick from 30 yards out, with the ball sliding under the body of the Albion keeper, pulling the score back to 3-2.
Despite Sheffield pushing for a late equaliser, Tadcaster wrapped up the scoring with the last kick of the game, with a long ball catching the visitors pressing forward and Day getting his second by loving Hedge to make it 4-2
