Sheffield FC’s winning pre-season run continued on Friday evening, at a drizzly Home of Football, as they ran out 2-1 winners over an excellent young Sheffield United side.
The Blades youngsters took the lead on 9 minutes, as Sydney Morgan found space on the left hand side, unleashing an unstoppable drive that gave Dylan Patkin no chance.
It took until the half hour mark for United to get another effort on goal, Morgan turning provider with a great cross, with Ryan Viggers getting in front of his marker to head just over the bar.
Club levelled on 33v minutes, poor defence from the away side saw a long ball over the top leave the back four stranded, allowing Karl Demidh to slot beyond Sam Kelly into the corner.
Just before the break the visitors went close again, as Angello Cappello burst down the left to deliver a perfect ball into the box for Jake Kelly head home, only to be denied by a brave stop by Dylan Parkin.
THere were chances for both sides, as Ryan Viggers hit the post for united, Ted Cribley went close for Club, as did Rory Coleman from a free-kick.
Ben Turner went even closer for the hosts, seeing his shot deflected wide off the inside leg of a defender, after some good build up work in attack.
Sheffield took the lead on 70 minutes, a ball through the middle over the top saw Michael Williams bear the defence, and after having his first attempt blocked the substitute was able to lob Kelly to make it 2-1.
