Sheffield FC wrapped up their pre-season campaign with a 2-2 draw, as NCEL Division One outfit Swallownest came from behind twice, in a scrappy behind closed doors friendly at the Home of Football.
Club opened the scoring after just six minutes and looked to be on the way to a comfortable win, Cody Prior dug a shot out from over 20 yards out, with ex-Clubbie keeper James Gamble unable to handle the thunderous strike as it made its way to the back of the net.
Swallownest drew level on 36 minutes as ex-Club youth player Matt Morton played an exquisite defence splitting pass, which was taken on by Jake Squires who held off Sheffield new-signing Josh Burns, before coolly slotting home past Owen Evans.
Just before the interval Sheffield wunderkind Alex Wonham scored a remarkable goal, setting off on a mazy winding run through four defenders, before lofting the ball over Gamble to make it 2-1 to the hosts.
That is how it stayed up midway through the second half, until substitute Joe Pearson took a brilliant touch and turn, then smacking the ball on the half-volley beyond Jonathan Hedge.
Overall, it was a scrappy, but even affair, that will serve as a decent preparation to the real deal that starts next Saturday with an FA Cup trip to Holbeach United.
