Club bounced back from the disappointment of Bank Holiday Monday’s home defeat, by turning in a highly impressive and tenacious display on Saturday, running oy 3-1 victors at table-topping Stamford AFC.

Sheffield were on the front foot from the opening seconds and a chaotic opening almost saw them take the lead, as a curling effort from Mitchell Dunne was well saved by an acrobatic stop by keeper Danny Haystead, with a tame rebound effort by Karl Demidh being scrambled off the line.

It wasn’t long before the away side took the lead, as winger James Gregory sent in a telling ball into the box, with Marc Newsham timing his run to perfection nipping in front of his marker to steer a header home.
On 16 minutes came a highly controversial moment in proceedings, a searching ball over the top by Adam Chapman was dealt with by the head of Sean Wright, the defender fell to the ground and as Club’s Karl Demidh turned he tripped over the strewn Stamford defender.

Referee Jacob Lehane surprised everyone by pointing to the spot, and after the inevitable protests, Mitchell Dunne stepped up to send Danny Haystead the wrong way to make it 2-0.
The Daniels managed to pull one back on 27 minutes, after a lengthy period of pressure winger Cosmas Matwasa put a dangerous ball into the box which wasn’t dealt with, and Tom Siddons was able to finish with a nice bicycle kick into the corner of the net.

Stamford had plenty of efforts after this on goal, the majority wayward and hopeful, with their best chance coming in stoppage time when Rob Morgan dribbling into the box before taking it too far and out of play.
In the second half Sheffield rode their luck somewhat early on, as Jonathan Hedge scooped a shot from Tom Siddons into the air, with defender Rory Coleman heading the ball against his own crossbar.

Club managed the game excellently, and the frustration finally got to the hosts five minutes from time, as Harry Vince was shown a straight red card for an ugly and very dangerous two footed challenge on Karl Demidh.
It was just a matter of seeing the game out now for Sheffield, and they wrapped things up three minutes from time, with Marc Newsham getting first to a loose ball to hook it into the empty net over his shoulder.
