Sheffield FC stumbled to a first home lost on Bank Holiday Monday, as they fell 3-2 to early pace-setters Leek Town, on another sweltering afternoon in Dronfield.

There was not much to report in the early part of the game, with Sheffield the ones piling on a lot of pressure with no direct results, but it was the away side that went closest as Louis Keenan swung in a cross which caught the home defence out and also surprised Tim Grice at the back post who failed to connect.
Moments later Leek went close again, as Josh Agbozo delivered a ball from the right which Grice connected with, however the header flashed wide of the post.

Leek took the lead on 21 minutes, Olly Harrison playing a long ball over the top of the defence, with Grice doing what he has done so many times by slotting the ball under Dylan Parkin to make it 1-0.
A minute before the break it was 2-0 as Parkin’s clearance was half-hit, Aaron Bott took the ball forcing a save from the keeper, but the rebound fell to Jake Twyford who made no mistake to score.
The decision for the visitors to take the interval break on the scorching pitch seemed to backfire, with the heat looking to take its toll on the visitors, and Sheffield capitalising on some weary looking defence.
Club pulled one back on 64 minutes, when Leek failed to deal with a corner, with Rory Coleman tapping in from close range in the melee.

On 67 mins Sheffield were level with a near carbon copy of the earlier goal, as once again a corner was not cleared, this time Marc Newsham made sure from close range with his head to make it 2-2.
Parity lasted for ten minutes, as Leek retook the lead and with it the three points, as Lewis Short played a neat one-two, crafting a floated cross to the far post that found Chris Baker unmarked giving the winger an easy tap-in.
Sheffield piled on the pressure for the final minutes, and barring a shot from Mitchell Dunne that sailed over the bar, they were unable to produce anything likely to rescue a point.
