A much-changed Sheffield FC side eased to the second stage of the Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior Cup, brushing aside a valiant High Green Villa side 6-0 at the Home of Football, in a game where the scoreline didn’t do the visitors justice.
Leading the charge for Club was Eshan Mohammed, who continued his rich vein of scoring form with a hat-trick, aided by Michael Williams and Alex Wonham along with an own-goal.
The home side looked a little disjointed in the early stages, and ex-Clubbie Ryan Ruddiforth went close with the first effort of the game, forcing a decent save from Dylan Parkin.
Club finally broke the deadlock on 20 minutes, Ehsan Mohammed picking up the ball on the right, before hitting a low drive just beyond the keeper.
High Green should have been level on the half hour mark, a fierce shot from Tom Peace hit the underside of the bar, only to see the spin take the ball away from goal.
Sheffield made it two just before the interval, Michael Williams putting in a low cross from the left, with Alex Mosley the unfortunate defender turning it into his own goal.
In the second half Sheffield started to turn the screw, and it wasn’t long before it was 3-0, a ball in from the right by Jordan Chapell was steered over the head of the keeper by a looping header from Ehsan Mohammed.
Ehsan grabbed his third just minutes later, again picking up the ball on the edge of the area and firing a drive against the foot of the post, and being quickest to the ball to slam the rebound in to make it 4-0.
was 5-0 just after the hour mark, 17-year-old Alex Wonham taking the ball across the edge of the area, before picking his spot with a well-struck finish into the corner of the net.
THe scoring was wrapped up on 66 minutes, Wonham this time seeing his effort saved by Bladen Greaves in the Villa goal, only for Michael Williams to pick up the bits to tap in the rebound.
To their credit High Green kept on playing, and will feel justice wasn’t served in the way of consolation late on, as once again a shot rattled the upright and bounced yet again to safety.
