The World’s First partnership with Leeds United continues to thrive as we are now taking applications for the Player Development Scholarship at St Georges Park Thorncliffe.
This Scholarship programme provides a unique pathway for gifted and talented 16-18 year olds to access a first-class education combined with a player development pathway.
The educational framework will be delivered by Leeds United College staff who are committed to delivering an outstanding education. Which will allow the Scholars to gain a BTEC level 3 qualification designed to cover the core elements of sporting performance and excellence, such as; Anatomy, Physiology, Coaching, Psychology and Analysis.
The course is equivalent to three A Levels and will particularly suit those wanting to enter employment in the sports industry as either a sport coach, physio or sport scientist and for those wishing to progress to higher education to study a sport related degree such as coaching, sports therapy and sports science.
Spencer Taylor, Director of Education at Leeds United, said: “The opportunity to bring the Leeds United College and its outstanding education programme to the St Georges Park Thorncliffe site, in partnership with the World’s First Football Club and Leisure United, will provide some exciting educational pathways for the students who join the programme in September 2020.
Sheffield FC will provide all players with a high quality football coaching programme conducted by a team of UEFA A/B licence coaches lead by first team coach Jamie Yates. This will allow players to train 3 times per week and showcase their development and ability on match days in a competitive National Football Youth League competing against the likes of Manchester City, Newcastle United and Everton to name a few.
Jamie Yates, Sheffield FC First Team Coach, said: “I am excited to get started in September to begin the development process of our new recruits. This innovative new approach will provide all scholars with a great opportunity to gain a first class education whilst competing at a great football standard in a league which has produced players the likes of Britt Assombalonga.”
Players will also be given the opportunity to progress their development on and off the pitch with Sheffield FCs player development pathway, which enables players the opportunity to progress and play in Sheffield FCs reserves and first team and further their education to degree level through our partnership with The University of Salford Business School.
Sheffield FC are hosting a Tournament for all local players and clubs. If you are a school leaver and wanting to be a part of it no matter if you do or don’t have a club please contact Jamie Yates.([email protected])
