Sheffield FC’s Under 19s turned on the style on Thursday night at the Home of Football, as they went goal-crazy against their Sheffield United counterparts, winning 7-2 in a quite incredible game.

The Blades started in fine form against a young Club outfit, and after a constant barrage in the opening five minutes, the visitors took the lead with a clinical finish following a good move down the middle.

Club responded, and within five minutes were level, as Callum Mckeown finished after United failed to clear their lines. It was 2-1 just moments later, skipper Jamie Cowan raising at the back post, to head beyond a bewildered defence.

The home side’s third came just before the break, Jack Hackford who had been a thorn in the visitors’ side beating the keeper with a fierce drive, after cutting in from the left.

In the second half United started the better of the two once again, and pulled one back after some good work allowed a shot on goal, with the ball squirming under debutant keeper Tom Kirkland into the net.

Nevertheless Club came back with interest, and made it 4-2 with a superb finish from Jack Hackford, and 5-2 from the spot minutes later from Max Rhodes.

Five soon became six as Club ran their S2 visitors ragged, a superb drive from substitute Girey Alido, with the scoring wrapped up by Jack Hackford who completed his hat-trick with ten minutes to go.

Manager Luke Herriott was full of praise for his squad and management after the game; “I’m so thrilled with the performance and you can feel that this is the start of something special. I’m absolutely buzzing, and thanks to the coaching team of Liam Dawson and Tom Cooke, we are playing some great football and looking forward to every game… and especially the FA Youth Cup tie at Eccleshill United.”
