Youngsters bow out of FA Youth Cup
Russ Eagle's Under 18s side's FA Youth Cup adventure came to an end on Thursday, as they were blown away by a first half whirlwind from near neighbours Chesterfield at the Home of Football, with the visitors running out 6-1 winners in front of a bumper attendance.
Chesterfield started quickly, and on 7 minutes Luke Rawson was brought down by Club keeper Ben Woodcock. The penalty taken by Rawson, but saved well by Woodcock, however Levi Amantchi drove home the rebound to make it 1-0.
On 13 minutes it became 2-0, a free kick from Zac Walker hit the post, Club couldn't clear the ball far and Rawson's cross back in to the box picked out Walker lurking at the back to nod home.
Chesterfield's tall winger Levi Amantchi was catching the eye of several interested parties, and a long loping run on the left on 21 minutes had the defence standing, ending with a great finish from the tightest of angles.
Jack Holmes found Zak Walker in acres of space on the edge of the box, with 29 minutes gone, with a delicate chip beating Ben Woodcock to make it 4-0.
It was 5-0 on 33 minutes, as a great ball in from the right by Zak Walker was met by an acrobatic volley from five yards by Levi Amantchi, who claimed his hat-trick.
The minutes before the btreak it was 6-0, as a ball on right from Walker found Amantchi, who's cross picked out Luke Rawson to head home.
It was a much more even econd hlf, and Club grabbed a well earned consolation ten minutes from the end following a great move on right from Ben Mitcheson, and volleyed home by Callum Walton.
