Sheffield FC University First Team Win the League and start England University Trials
Sheffield Hallam’s University First team wrapped up the BUCS league title with 2 games to go with a 1-0 away victory at Northumbria University. A superb goal from Rob Worroll secured the 3 points required and now the focus moves onto this weeks’ Cup semi-final at Newcastle University and the upcoming varsity fixture against local rivals University of Sheffield on the 19th March at Hillsborough.
Sheffield FC’s Coach Neil Cluxton who is in his second season of coaching the team after previously coaching Sheffield FC U19 and U21s, said,
“The lads have worked exceptionally hard throughout the season and thoroughly deserve the League title - they're next target is to win the Cup and upcoming Varsity fixture at Hillsborough and go the whole season undefeated.”
Tom Charlesworth, Matt Leyland & Rob Worroll represented the North of England University team this weekend against the South at Sandbach FC. The final score was 1-1 and the game was also a final trial for the full England squad which will be announced next week.

The 1st team gaining promotion this season has been the icing on the cake and credit needs to be given to both the players and staff.”
