New partnerships with Classic Football Shirts, Soccerex & Joma Sport
Sheffield FC were delighted to announce partnerships with Classic Football Shirts in January & Joma Sport in June. The now three way partnership sees for the first time the shirts of #theworldsfirst retailed across the world. Three new kits are being released - home, away and a bespoke heritage shirt for the 160th, which is based on the earliest known kit designs of Sheffield FC.
The addition of Soccerex as partner sees the company pledge to protect football’s spiritual roots through: protecting & preserving Sheffield FC as a social community football club; rebuilding the original home & stadium of Sheffield FC, The Home of Football & growing and promoting grassroots football around the world.
Fundraising picks up with global fans coming to Sheffield
Our international ambassadors have continued to tour the world for The Home of Football project, most recently to Schmalkalden in Germany to give a speech on the history of Sheffield FC & receive donations for the project. Fan excitement also remains high, #theworldsfirst were recent hosts to over 400 fans from FC Cologne & Borussia Dortmund who visited the birthplace of football over the international break for a fan match.
International Sheffield FC Foundation partnerships
The Club Foundation has furthered its international expansion, partnering with Sheffield Hallam University and Massive Soccer to allow US students to play & study the game in Sheffield. In Asia a new partnership with Freeman FC from Wuhan, China, enabled a delegation of Chinese Ladies players travel to develop alongside the Sheffield FC Ladies WSL2 side. Over 120 scholars are now registered with Sheffield FC to expand their education and football development.
Club of Pioneers project expands to Luxembourg, Norway and New Zealand
So far in 2017 The Club of Pioneers has welcomed Fola Esch as the oldest club from Luxembourg, Odds Ballklubb as the oldest club from Norway and the first club from the Southern Hemisphere through North Shore United from New Zealand. The summer will see Savages FC from South Africa joining as the first club from Africa and #theworldsfirst continuing the Boots for Africa project by encouraging other pioneers to donate boots to the Savages community.
Quote from Club Chairman Richard Tims
Chairman Richard Tims was positive about the club’s status: "The reception the club receives across the world is electrifying. Whether it’s fans in Norway, students in the US or fans from Cologne - you feel the appreciation and love for the Sheffield FC story. One day we want every fan across the world to know where the beautiful game first kicked off, on a green field in Sheffield 1857".
