Preview: Huddersfield Town (H), Sunday 18 November 2018
This Sunday sees a repeat of the 2018/19 season match-day one, as Huddersfield Town Ladies travel to the Home of Football, in the third of this month's Yorkshire Derbies.
Huddersfield come into the game on the back of a 2-1 win away at Nottingham Forest, and are currently on a three-game winning streak. Sheffield, on the other hand, will look to shake off a 4-2 away defeat at the hands of Hull City lasy Sunday.
Last time out, saw Huddersfield took all three points at The Stafflex Arena, with Katie Nutter and Brittany Sanderson getting the goals respectively.
Sheffield manager, Kyle O’Reilly, spoke ahead of the game, reflecting on last week-end’s trip to Hull:
“It’s a mixed bag of feelings really. We never really got into gear properly and despite opening some good opportunities early doors, we found ourselves 2-0 down due to not being switched on and a sloppy error.
“We scored at a good time just as we were starting to think that it wasn’t going to be our day, and in the second half, I felt it was much of the same.
“A lot of promising work but we allowed Hull to ask the right questions of us. At 3-1, we started to play and upped the levels but it just wasn’t to be.
“We’ve hit the woodwork, got in behind a few times, but just couldn’t find that moment to shift the momentum in our favour. It’s frustrating to lose obviously, but at the same time we’re creating good opportunities now and it’s a matter of time before it clicks.”
He then went on to speak about this weekend’s opponents, Huddersfield.
“We know it’ll a tough task after playing them earlier in the season. It’s no surprise to see them up there as they’re probably the closest team to Blackburn and Sunderland this season.
“I’m hoping we’ve learnt from our last game against them, and we’ve undoubtedly improved in that time. Every match carries an incentive to win - all we can do is go out and give our best each week, that’s all I ask.”
The game is set to take place at the Home of Football on Sunday 18th November, kick-off at 2pm. You can follow our live Twitter commentary (@SFCLadies) for updates throughout the game.
