Ladies Go Down Battling Away To League Leaders

Sheffield FC Ladies put in a hugely improved performance at current FA WNL Northern Premier divisions leaders, Blackburn Rovers, but were ultimately beaten 4-2 last Sunday.

Having lost 7-0 on home turf back in September, Sheffield worked tirelessly to restrict the hosts but couldn't stop classy finishes from Natasha Flint and Jess Holbrook opening up a 2-0 lead after 25 minutes.

What no-one expected was for Sheffield to reduce the arrears, but Molly Havard's close range header did just that...just not for very long as within two minutes, a stylish strike from Alex Taylor restored Rovers two-goal cushion.

Sheffield continued their impressive defensive showing in the second half, restricting Blackburn to just one further goal, Kayleigh McDonald applying the finish, and grabbing a consolation of their own as Ellie Hawcroft capitalised on a misplaced Rovers' pass.
