Gav's the man at the helm

We are delighted to announce our new 1st team management line up. 

The Club has decided to keep faith with the team that finished the last season on a high, with former player/assistant manager Gavin Smith stepping up to take the position of 1st team manager. Gavin had an illustrious career being on the books of Sheffield Wednesday, Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End, and plying his trade at Gainsborough Trinity, Bradford Park Avenue and Worksop Town before joining Sheffield as player and latterly as assistant manager to Chris Dolby 2008 – 2010. 

Gavin will be assisted by Russ Eagle who has many years’ experience in management in the local area; Russ will also take charge of our U18 Sunday squad and our talented midweek Under 19s. 

Former player Kirk Jackson has been recruited as 1st team coach. Kirk was a very popular member of the playing staff here at Sheffield FC and is relishing the challenge of keeping the team fit and raring to go from pre-season onwards.

Supporting Gavin and Russ will be Chris Dolby who takes the role of Director of Football. Chris will head up our football strategy and continue as head of our successful Sheffield FC Foundation delivering the Sheffield FC experience in local schools and colleges.

John Williams has agreed to take on the position of Head of Player Development. John has spent several years as an advisor to the Club in his capacity as lead coach of our Women’s Super League side and supporting our Men’s academy squads.
