Belgian Pioneers launch Boots for Africa
Sheffield FC’s friends and fellow members of the Club of Pioneers, Royal Antwerp, have kicked off a revitalised version of the Boots for Africa charity.
Tom Simons, the Club of Pioneers Ambassador for Belgium, explained that the launch had been targeted at the country of Malawi, with the reason being the Malawian head coach having connections with the Belgian Pioneers.
“Ronny Van Geneugden (ex-Antwerp player, and ex-coach of Racing Genk) is currently coach of the African country Malawi. During his scouting throughout the country, he noticed the high need for simple football equipment. He has already started a support project in collaboration with, among others, Racing Genk, the city of Genk and OH Leuven. He will distribute the material himself during his scouting and clinics.”
The initiative will run until May 2018.
