Evo-Stik League First Division South

Sheffield FC wrapped up their home campaign with the highest score of the season, writes Stuart James, as they ran out convincing 5-1 victors over Spalding United.

In torrential conditions Club took the lead on 15 minutes, as Ben Turner was hauled down in the box, and Waide Fairhurst slotting home a cool penalty.

It was 2-0 moments later, as the Tulips struggled to clear their area, only for it to fall to Andrew Gascoigne who struck a fierce left footer from the edge of the area.

The game was put out of reach in first half injury time, as Jamie Yates added another to his spectacular highlights video, sending a free-kick into the top corner from 25 yards out.

Spalding pulled one back just after he interval, as skipper Gary King finished with a cheeky back-heel, with somehow skewed over Jamie Ingham to make it 3-1.

Any hope was soon eradicated for the visitors, as Yates turned provider with a deep corner that was met by the head of Adam Chapman, sending it back across goal and giving the keeper no chance.

The scoring was completed with Fairhurst getting his second, after breaking through a tired defence, and beating a flailing defender to give Club the biggest victory of the season.
