First Team vs. Spalding United (0 : 4)

Saturday, 22 October, 2016 - 15:00
Evo-Stik League First Division South

Spalding ran out comfortable winners at the Home of Football to enhance their hopes of promotion from Division One South, winning 4-0 over a shell-shocked Sheffield FC.

Jordan Lemon opened the scoring for the Tulips in the 9th minute, after being allowed too much space, and hitting a terrific shot from 20 yards that gave Chris Butt no chance.

The second came moments before the interval, as a controversial call from referee Hawksby saw him award Spalding a penalty under advice from his assistant having waved the foul away; up stepped Cenk Acar to slot home.

Spalding made the game safe three minutes after the restart, as Sheffield hesitated in defence, allowing Conor Higginson to slam home for 3-0.

The scoring was complete in the 83rd minute, with Lincoln City loanee Acar picking the ball up twenty yards out, and tucking the ball beyond Butt to complete the hosts’ misery.
