First Team vs. Shelley CFC (1 : 0)

County Cup

Sheffield FC edged their way to the next round of the Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior, as they beat Huddersfield based Cup outfit Shelley Community 1-0 in a tighter than expected game, at a rainy Stafflex Arena on Wednesday evening.

James Colliver named just three players from Saturday’s starting line up in the side, but were still expected to have too much in the tank against their hosts, who play their football three levels lower in the West Yorkshire Premier League.

In the end it proved to be a much tighter game than anyone anticipated, with Shelley giving a brave and solid display, and Club hanging on to the single goal lead.

Debutant Jacob France was the difference between the two teams, as the youngster made his step up from the Development Squad to have an evening to remember, scoring on his debut with a 69th minute drive from 20 yards out to give Sheffield the win.
