First Team vs. Northwich Victoria (5 : 2)
Evo-Stik League First Division South
Club stretched their unbeaten run to seven games on Saturday afternoon, hitting Northwich Victoria for five at Wincham Park, and lifting them into the top half of the table for the first time this season.
Leading scorer Connor Hall led the way with a stunning four goal haul, as Sheffield ran out 5-2 winners, with the other coming from Adam Johnson on his debut.
Hall opened the scoring inside two minutes, converting a great finish after a through ball from Le Cooksey, however Sheffield were pegged back seven minutes later when Yaw Gyimah was credited with a goal after a goalmouth scramble.
Club took a vital lead into the interval, with Hall once again found himself on the scoresheet with a clinical header, following an excellent cross from Matt Roney.
The youngster’s hat-trick came two minutes after the break, again being in the right place at the right time, after Alec Denton burst through and had his shot only parried by the keeper.
Vics managed to pull one back from the spot on the hour, after Damian Magee upended Gyimah in the box, with Matt Regan smashing home.
With ten minutes to go it was Club’s turn to be awarded a penalty; Adam Johnson being hauled down in the box, and Connor Hall blasting home a fourth.
To rub salt in the hosts’ wounds Hall turned provider for Club’s fifth, sending over a ball over an advancing Northwich back-line, and Johnson timing his run to perfection to slot over the keeper.
The win takes Sheffield to tenth in the table, putting the relegation spots well in their rear-view mirrors, and looking forward to Monday’s trip to Romulus in the Integro Cup with quite a bit of positivity.
