First Team vs. Gresley FC (3 : 2)
Evo-Stik League First Division South
Sheffield FC moved up to fourth place in Division One South, extending their unbeaten run to thirteen games, after an entertaining 3-2 win over Gresley.
The hosts took the lead early on, following a run and cross from Alec Denton, teeing up Adam Johnson who had time to steady himself before curling the ball home.
It was 2-0 midway through the half, as Pat Lindley threaded a ball through the Gresley defence, leaving Denton the task of lofting the ball cleverly over keeper Matt Coton.
The game turned on a fine margin when Matt Roney’s drive struck the post, with the visitors breaking directly upfield, and Keenan King tucking the ball under Chris Butt.
Gresley equalised just before the break, as Pearson Mwanyongo’s cross was met by an exquisite volley at the back post from Reece Morris.
It was another touch of brilliance that won all three points for Sheffield, as Mohammed Hamid showed typical trickery to turn his defender, before curling home from 20 yards.
