Evo-Stik League First Division South

Sheffield FC ended the 2017/18 season with defeat against play-off bound Frickley Athletic, losing 1-0 to a side that featured several youngsters, to allow for their semi-final tie against Stamford.

Frickley grabbed all three points with a goal in the 24th minute, when Club were unable to deal with a free-kick, leaving George Milner to finish at the back post.

The visitors had more than their fair share to pull level in this one, none more so than when Waide Fairhurst was upended by keeper Paul Stancliffe in the box, with the veteran stopper making easy work saving Fairhurst's penalty.

Adam Chapman had the best opportunity in the closing stages, as Stancliffe flapped at a cross, however the ball came too quickly at Chapman who knocked the ball over the bar from close range.
